So I’m not exactly sure what brought this image about in my head, but it just popped up and requested me to create it.  So I did, and am quite happy with the results. Not exactly sure what it means to me yet, or if it can mean something to you. I’m not expecting it to bring revelation to your life, change the world, or speak to the wanderers of this world, but who knows right? So hopefully you can take something from this image that stirs your soul, that stretches your mind, and causes you to awaken dormant ambition. If not, then at very least I hope you enjoy it for the aesthetics or merely as a window into the depths of my brain, that little confusing corner in which I have decided to call “creativity?”
The image is comprised of about 10 different images and a handful of different brush sets. After about 20 hours into this image I believe it is finished, though we will see if that changes in the next few days.
Regards,
Broc

Frustrated with Tumblr… Why won’t you accept this image!!!

Sometimes, like in this photo, I end up going past the setting for weeks before I actually go ahead and take a photo of said setting. For this photo, I walked past it multiple times every day for a month as I walked from my car to my apartment and my apartment to my car. I knew I wanted to photograph the scene, but no angle seemed right, and I didn’t feel like I should commit to it until I was certain.
Yesterday, as I got home from work, the lighting was right, and the scene hit me right as I stepped out of the car. I quickly ran up to get my equipment and capture this shot.
I guess, I say that all to say that waiting for the moment has generally benefited me more than jumping head first. Revisiting and revisiting, though annoying at times, and unfruitful in others, actually paid off in this time. It has also taught me to slow down and let moments like this unfold by the orchestration of God’s timing rather than wrestling images into submission, or situations for that matter.
He speaks to us, through the simplest things in life, yet carrying profound messages. The question remains, will we listen?

Sometimes I wish I could stick the pedal to the metal and drive every day away searching for creative fuel. It seems that during those times, when the creativity couldn’t be juiced out of my brain by the mightiest of juicers, if I simply get in the car and drive… that’s when it all starts to come together.
Winding down those narrow back roads, the curves begin to speak and the scenery begins to glow. The most interesting places, places that I may pass on a frequent basis, jump out at me and say, “Hey there, I’ve been here… waiting for you to wake up and see what is around you!”
It’s then that I realize that the pace of life has suddenly swept me away to the point that I haven’t been able to notice something right in front of me. Not even if only to *snap* and walk away forever to capture only a moment within that place.
I captured this photo whilst on my way back from Colorado where I spent a wonderful time with family. On the 11 hour drive I found plenty of time to soak in my surroundings. Somewhere in the desolate open range of New Mexico, we stopped for a bathroom break. This motel was where we turned around to get back on the highway.
It was the best shot I could get since no one was going to wait around for me to do a mini photo-session, that being said I am still quite pleased with the end result.
Hope you enjoy, and I hope I didn’t bore you as I rambled on over one picture, but this photo continues to remind me that I need to slow down the pace of life, and look around. It reminds me of the beauty that is all around us. I hope you can find meaning of your own within it, or at very least enjoy how awesome it turned out.
Thanks,
Broc

Journey & Nate. What a great day I had in celebration of Journey and Nate’s wedding. They are college friends of mine, and it has been a while since my last wedding. So both aspects played a part in making this a really wonderful day.

Just a quick update:

I’m settled in now, which means I’m a resident of Lancaster, PA. Which also means I can get to work to get going with this whole photography biz thang! After all, thats why I’m even doing this blog anyway… right? Which also means that I should be able to update this thing more. For those of you (few… if any) that have paid any attention to this blog might have noticed I’m not good at keeping up with it. Hopefully that will change.

Now back to the wedding! It was great to see old friends, and it was great to get back in the game of photographing an event. I am so thankful that the day went so well and was filled with so many good things. They are such a wonderful couple, photographically and personally, and I believe that their pictures show that.

Keep an eye out on my website www.brocevanphoto.com for some additions to the Wedding portion from this particular wedding, and by this weekend I should have the full wedding up on my smugmug for your viewing purposes. (links found on my site)

So Journey and Nate… Here’s to you and your wonderful future that is ahead of you. May be it be filled with the joy that was so abundant on the day of your wedding.

And to all reading this, I would like to encourage to to stop in on this thing from time to time to see whats new in the world of Broc Evan Photography.

Thanks,

Broc

Nirvana Cover (Heart Shaped Box) - NEMES

This is a band that I have known personally for awhile that made a video of their cover of Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana. Nirvana stumbled upon it and posted it on their Facebook Wall! Such a good cover that I couldn’t help but share the love. Enjoy
